The Art of Nature

Most nutcrackers require a lot of strength to crack the nut and the nut itself often ends up in pieces. By using a physical principle, I have solved these two issues. The Ore Nutcracker®, with sliding rings, slides the shell off the nut, breaking the shell and leaving the nut intact.

The shape of the rings gave me the idea to turn them into two birds, ‘Nutcrackers’.

Ore Design values the centuries long craftsmanship in the working of iron. Around Heeten, where we live, traces have been found of iron kilns used during Roman times . The ‘Ore’ in our name alludes to the iron-rich soil in the area.

The nutcracker is made from stainless steel, suitable for cracking the hardest nuts that can fit in the rings. The two metal parts are riveted by hand.

The handgrips are treated with oil to enhance the natural colour to the wood. If necessary, you can clean the nutcracker with a damp cloth.

Model The Ore Nutcracker® Tak – in addition to grips, that look a bit like a tree, this model also has branches underneath the birds. Or is it a nest perhaps? We’ve called this model Tak, which is Danish for thank you.

Traces of iron furnaces from the Roman era were found near Heeten where I live. Ore Design refers to this primaeval earth, to the iron-rich soil.
